Vehicle heating system in the engine compartment

The heating system, for a vehicle, has a housing (1,2) for a heating chamber (3) containing a viscous fluid. A water jacket (4) is at the housing (1,2), round the heating chamber (3), to take a recirculating fluid flow through it. A rotor has a rotating support in the water jacket (4) to break up the viscous fluid in the chamber (3) to generate heat. A passage channel in the water jacket (4) takes the recirculating fluid generally round the whole of the rotor. An inflow channel (33) links the exterior of the housing (1,2) with the passage channel, for the recirculating fluid to pass through and emerge through an outflow channel. The inflow and outflow channels are generally parallel to the rotor axis.
