A procedure is described for controlling a car's brake installation where at each wheel brake, electrically operable adjusting devices are provided which are controlled in the context of a control of a brake torque occurring at a the wheel brake or a brake force according to a driver's braking wish. The brake torque or brake force is measured. In at least one operating regime in which it can happen that the measured value for the brake torque or force does not represent the actual value, a control takes place at least on the basis of a measured value representing the displacement of the brake pads.
