When a signal image is transmitted from a transmission liquid crystal device (4) to an optically-addressed parallel-aligned liquid crystal spatial light modulator (6) by means of a write light beam, signal components resulting from the pixel structure of the transmission liquid crystal device (4) can be eliminated by giving the following conditions: 1/2P∫NAL/μ∫1/P where NAL is the numerical aperture of a relay lens (5), P is the pitch of the pixel structure, and μ is the wavelength of the light from the write light source (1). As a result, over the range of all the spatial frequencies of a signal image which can be produced by the transmission liquid crystal device (4) is free from deterioration.
|
