Methods and apparatus for forming a novelty (such as a sticked ice cream product) from a mouldable material which involves means and methods whereby material is extruded into a cavity temporarily provided with a bottom, relative movement is thereafter caused so as to shear the cavity contained quantity of material from any such material remaining in the cavity filling nozzle prior to subsequent discharge of the moulded quantity from the cavity at a time when it no longer has a bottom.
