The carburettor has a throttle valve(16) to control the flow through the mixing channel and is adjustable between a first and second position. An idling adjusting screw controls the slow running position of the throttle valve. A slow running jet(50) is connected to the mixing channel, and a throttling orifice has an invariable flow passage which with low RPM of the engine delivers a metered amount of fuel to the engine. A main jet is connected to the mixing channel and has a throttling orifice with an invariable flow passage which with high RPM of the engine delivers a metered amount of fuel to the engine so that the slow running jet and the main jet control the delivery of fuel to the mixing channel depending upon the air flow through the mixing channel so as to supply the engine with a metered fuel and air mixture.
