The printer has interfaces (28,30,32,34,36,38,40) for entering image data, a control and computation unit for user-controlled processing of the entered image data and for computing the price according to the resulting image processing and at least one image printer (96). The interface digitizes the images for further processing. The control and computation unit contains a computer (4) with a screen for storing, processing and displaying the entered and digitized image data. The printer has a serial interface (32), parallel interface, magnetic data carrier drive (34) for direct input of digital image data from floppy disk, video tapes or magnetic tapes and a video input (36) for direct input of analogue video signals. A RAM card reader (30) provides read in of image data stored on RAM card, CD-drive for image data read in from CD-ROM or photo CD. An Independent claim is also included for a method for processing and printing images stored on an image data medium.
