The method involves forming an equilibrium with dissolved gases in a measurement device and monitoring the pressure and gas concentrations. Undissolved gases displaced into the measurement device change the equilibrium phase partial pressures. The method involves passing the liquid into a measurement device (1) in a defined sequence from a normally liquid-filled gas collection port (15) near a stand pipe to an expansion vessel. A reversible equilibrium with the gases dissolved in the liquid is set up in the measurement device and monitored by sensors for pressure and the concentration of one or more gases. Undissolved gases are displaced partly or fully into the gas collection port, pass to the measurement device and change the partial pressures of the equilibrium gas phase characteristically. The time functions of the sensor measurement values are detected, evaluated and displayed by a control and evaluation unit (12) and approximately represent the undissolved gas volume and rates. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for detecting and establishing the origin of undissolved gases in liquid-filled high voltage systems.
