CONSTANT VELOCITY TEMPERATURE PROBE

A temperature probe (10) for use in a product flow line (10, 12) including a valve seat (14) secured in the flow line (10, 12), a valve stem (18) and an orifice ring (16). The orifice ring (16) is attached to the valve stem (18) to define a pair of flow paths for product passing through the product flow line (10, 12). One flow path is through the ring (16) and the other is between the ring (16) and the valve seat (14). A temperature sensing probe (27) is carried by the valve stem (18) and positioned in the orifice ring (16) for sensing the temperature of the product in the flow line (10, 12). A spring is connected to act on the valve stem (18) and responsive to changes in velocity of the product in the flow line (10, 12) to move the orifice ring (16) toward and away from the valve seat (14) to maintain the velocity of the product flowing past the probe (27) constant.
