The invention relates to a current limiting device which contains a substrate (3) consisting at least partly of an electrically insulating material, at least one printed conductor system (15) which is situated thereon and made of a superconductive material having a high critical temperature, and terminal ends (10, 11) for establishing a contact. According to the invention the printed conductor system (15) comprises several partial conductors (151 to 154) which are connected in parallel between their terminal ends (10, 11) and have at least approximately the same length. The printed conductor system is advantageously formed by structuring a suitable layer.
