Aerating and ventilating openings are provided for the continuous supply of air to the interior of the bin, and for the continuous escape of bad smelling air and gases emanating from the decomposing material in the bin. The openings are formed in the lid(2) and/or body(1) of the bin, and may be slots(8) and/or round holes(9), or may be close-mesh screens. The openings may be completely or partially closed off. An Independent claim is included for a small container for the short-term storing of bio-waste and transfer into waste bins.
