The elastic element (2) consists of a braided tube made of flattened threads or bands (3) of conductive material woven together. The bands making up the warp and woof of the weave run at approximately 45 degrees to the axis of the tube. There are narrow gaps (4) between the edges of adjacent bands. The tube contains a spiral-wound wire and is flattened and sandwiched between two layers of the conveyer belt.
