The safety circuit (10) uses 2 relays (12,14) operated by respective magnetic switches (16,18), operated via magnetic bands positioned adjacent the elevator door at each of the elevator stopping points. The relays are coupled to a microprocessor (20) containing a memory holding the required stopping positions and a timer.
