A vehicle communication system (20) includes a remote signal transmitter (22). Signals from the remote transmitter (22) are collected by an antenna (32) that is supported on the exterior of the vehicle (30). The antenna (32) is coupled to a radio receiver (34) so that broadcast radio signal can be collected by the antenna (32) and processed through the radio receiver (34) in a conventional manner. The same antenna (32) is connected with a second receiver (36), which preferably is a portion of a vehicle security system. The signals transmitted from the remote transmitter (22) are collected by the antenna (32) and provided to the second receiver (36). A signal operator (46) is coupled between the antenna (32) and the two receivers (34, 36) to isolate the collected radio signals from the collected vehicle security system signal.
