<p>The system comprises a studio-distributor management system which controls the distribution of motion picture and data files, a headend system, a theater system and a creator/editor's system. The headend system comprises a system which receives motion picture film, or analog or digital tape or disk files as input, a storage system which receives digitized motion picture files from a long-term archiving system, a baseband processing system, a radio frequency transmission system which communicates motion picture and data files to and from various users as a radio frequency bit stream, and a headend management system which controls transmission and storage of motion picture and data files. The theater system comprises transmission line interfaces at theaters designated to receive motion pictures from the headend system, receiver-decoders which receive the radio frequency signal and produce motion picture and data files at baseband, storage playback systems which stores motion picture and data files until needed, secure projector systems which playback motion picture files, an automation/scheduling system which directs playback of motion picture files in the secure projector systems as authorized by the headend management system, and a reverse channel which provides data back to the headend system from the theaters. The creator/editor's system provides capability for editing and baseband processing of motion picture files at remote locations, and transmits edited motion picture files back to the headend system.</p> |
