The voltage regulator (10) regulates the output voltage of the electrical generator (11) by regulating the current through the energising winding (13), for limiting the current rise upon switching in a load, using a digital pulse width modulator, controlling the current pulse ratio via a transistor end stage, in dependence on the detected generator output voltage.
