The safety belt (1) has fixed and movable belt parts with lock parts (4,5). The monitor has an externally visible monitoring lamp (7) associated at least with the driver's side seat belt that indicates an applied fastened seat belt. At least one switch (6) in the path of motion of the belt's lock part controls the switch.
