Process for electrically heating a catalyst

The method involves monitoring the voltage source whilst the catalyser is being heated. After starting the heating the voltage source is measured as a reference voltage. During the heating process the voltage of the voltage source is measured as an actual voltage. The actual voltage (UB) is compared with the reference voltage (UE), and the heating process is interrupted if the difference between the actual and reference voltages exceeds a predefined voltage difference.
