The gear selector has a selection lever displaced along a gear selection slot between a number of different gear positions (P, R, N, D) in the direction of the vehicle longitudinal axis. The gear slot is extended at one end to allow the selection lever to move into an additional position (M) for selecting manual gear changing. Pref. the gear selection lever can only be moved into the manual gear changing position by depressing it in the direction of its axis to prevent accidental selection of manual gear changing. Pref. the axial depression of the gear selection lever is required for overcoming a mechanical top at the end of the gear slot. |
