<p>A storage stable, room-temperature curable coating composition for wood finishing is described, which is based on a cross-linking system which does not give rise to formaldehyde emission and which comprises, in water or in one or more organic solvents whereof at least one is a mono-functional alcohol combined with a dearomatised paraffin, polymers containing active hydrogen pendant groups, compounds functionalized from carbonyl groups containing compounds, which compounds are hydrates and/or acetals of linear aliphatic or aromatic di- and/or polyaldehydes containing an even number of carbon atoms, but at least 2 carbon atoms in the backbone connecting the carbonyl groups, presented as at least dimers and trimers in cyclic form, acetalated with mono-alcohols selected from ethanol, propanol, butanol, as such and/or modified with hydrogen functional binders selected from polyesters, cellulose derivatives, acrylics or modified polyesters, silica, and a catalyst selected from strong acids and salts thereof.</p> |
