<p>The ejector also controls the insertion of the card in the reader. The electronic card reader comprises a rectangular casing (14) with a slot (18) at the end for insertion of a card (12). It includes a connector for establishing a connection with the circuit mounted on the card, and an end-of-course switch which allows supply of energy to the card only when it is within its seating and connected to the reader circuitry. Once the card is fitted into the reader, no part of the card remains accessible from outside, and for this reason the reader is fitted with a manually operated sliding control peg (22) which may be used to eject the card. This element may combine the actions of ejecting the card, and also switching the supply to the card, by means of a flexible band carrying the conductors.</p> |
