PRODUCTION OF FLAME-RETARDANT AND ANTIMICROBIAL POLYESTER FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing at low cost the subject fiber having high flame retardancy in combination with highly wash-fast antimicrobial nature. SOLUTION: This method for producing the subject fiber comprises heat treatment of polyester fiber at >=120 deg.C in a liquid containing an emulsified flame retardant and an emulsified organic nitrogen-contg. antimicrobial agent to make both the flame retardant and the antimicrobial agent adhere to the fiber; wherein the add-on of the flame retardant onto the fiber is brought to 0.5-7.0 wt.% and the antimicrobial agent to be used consists mainly of an imidazole-based compound or biguanide-based compound.
