PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a flat gold and silver foil thread, having no unevenness in gloss and excellent in mechanical strength and flexibility by shredding laminate in which metal thin film and colored resin under-coated layer are inserted between two outermost film made of a synthetic resin. SOLUTION: This flat gold and silver foil thread is produced by the following steps: (1) vapor deposition of silver onto the one surface of synthetic resin film [e.g. made of poly(ethylene terephthalate)] to form metal thin film having <=0.2μm (pref. 0.02-0.2μm) thickness; (2) laminating on the metal thin film an under-coated resinous layer having 0.05-1.5μm thickness made of an acrylic- based resin colored with a coloring matter such as dye and pigment; (3) laminating on it the above synthetic resin film to form laminate in which at least one of both outermost layers is synthetic resin film having >=2μm and <6μm thickness; (4) shredding the laminate into ribbons having 0.15-2 mm width. |
