PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly start restoration processing for well holding ink emitting capacity, for example, suction processing of ink from an emitting orifice to control waste of ink, in an ink jet recording apparatus using an ink jet recording head capable of forming large and small dots. SOLUTION: The number of times of ink emitting operation for forming large dots and that of ink emitting operation for forming small dots are respectively separately calculated (steps S40, S50) and the total emitting amt. of ink is operated on the basis of these calculated values (step S60). This operated value is compared with a predetermined value to perform proper suction processing (step S80). |
