PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium, having sufficient characteristics in signal characteristics in a high density, recording endurance or the like, and the manufacturing method of the medium. SOLUTION: An optical recording medium is provided with a recording layer 4, consisting of a phase change material, generating a phase change between crystalline condition and amorphous condition reversibly, while an information signal is recorded by irradiating optical beams against the recording layer 4 and generating the phase change.
