PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new DNA fragment, which has a specific base sequence, and can be used, for example, as a promotor capable of enhancing expression of genes coding for a 'fatty acid'-dehydrogenating enzyme other proteins which contribute to the cool weather resistance responding to a low temperature. SOLUTION: This is a new DNA fragment having a base sequence of no. 1-3794 among the base sequence shown by the formula or a base sequence which a part is deleted from, substituted in, or inserted into the base sequence shown by the formula, and is useful, for example, as a promotor capable of enhancing expression of genes coding for a 'fatty acid'-dehydrogenating enzyme gene and other proteins which contribute to the cold resistance responding to a low temperature. The DNA fragment, is obtained by preparing a library by the conventional method using genomic DNA prepared from corn, followed by screening the obtained library using the whole cDNA of a corn 'low temperature'-inducible gene as a probe. |
