<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-treated calcium carbonate filler which exhibits excellent dispersibility, insulation properties, etc., when used in a plastic, and exhibits excellent water resistance, etc., when used in a coating material or an ink. SOLUTION: There are provided a surface-treated calcium filler having been subjected to wet surface treatment with at least one member selected from the group consisting of saturated fatty acids, unsaturated fatty acids, alicyclic carboxylic acids, and resinic acids; a surface-treated calcium filler having been subjected to wet surface treatment with at least one member selected from the group consisting of metallic soaps of saturated fatty acids, metallic soaps of unsaturated fatty acids, metallic soaps of alicyclic carboxylic acids, and metallic acids of resinic acids and having an alkali metal content of 1.0×10<-3> mol/100 g CaCO3 ; a surface-treated calcium filler as described above, wherein the BET specific surface area of the calcium carbonate is 3-120 m<2> /g; and a process for producing a surface-treated calcium carbonate filler, comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of saturated fatty acids, unsaturated fatty acids, alicyclic carboxylic acids, and resinic acids to an aqueous slurry of calcium carbonate, and heating the mixture to a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the selected member to subject the calcium carbonate to wet surface treatment.</p> |
