<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamed polystyrene product capable of preventing the generation of black smoke on combustion, capable of improving heat resistance and capable of inhibiting the thermal contraction deformation of the foamed product. SOLUTION: Styrene beads are mixed with a boric acid-based inorganic substance, preliminarily foamed and subsequently left to age. The prefoamed beads are mixed with a boric acid-based inorganic substance and a thermosetting resin, and then mainly foamed. The surfaces of the foamed polystyrene beads 2 of the foamed polystyrene product 1 are thus coated with the coating films 3. When heated, the coating films 3 inhibit the combustion of the polystyrene beads 2. When heated with a large quantity of heat, the coating films 3 are changed into glassy coating films to prevent the deeper combustion of the polystyrene beads 2. The glassy coatings absorb black smoke to prevent the generation of the black smoke.</p> |
