PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the instability of a tension control system caused by unstationary part. SOLUTION: In an equipment, two tension meters 15, 16 are set between a bridle roll 2 at the upstream side and a treating vessel 1. The setting positions of two tension meters 15, 16 have longer interval than the length L0 of the unstationary part, such as Lo +α. In the state, in which the unstationary part of a steel strip 4 is not passed through the setting unstationary of the tension meter 15 at the up stream side, the tension control is executed with a load signal from the tension meter 15 at the upstream side. Further, in the case that the unstationary part passes through the setting position of the tension meter 15 at the upstream side, the tension control is executed with the load signal from the tension meter 16 at the downstream side. In this result, even when the unsteady part passes through in the equipment, the tension of the steel strip 4 is accurately detected without affecting to the unstationary part, and good tension control can be executed.
