PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the energy loss of a head body when a ball is hit and to increase a carry of the hit ball by making the thickness of the head body equal to or larger than the thickness of a clubface in such a manner that the rigidity of the head body exclusive of the clubface is made equal to or higher than the rigidity of the clubface. SOLUTION: The material of the clubface 2 of the wood club head of a metallic hollow structure of >=200 cc in head volume is formed of a titanium alloy of a sp. gr. 4.5 and the thickness thereof is specified to 2.9 mm over the entire part of the clubface 2. The head body 1 is formed of an aluminum alloy of a sp. gr. 2.8 and the thickness thereof is set at a specified value of 3.5 mm thickness over the entire part inclusive of a crown part 3, a back side part 4 and a sole part 5. The thickness t0 of the head body is preferably set at the relation: t0 >=t/(0.7 to 0.8) with respect to the thicknessτof the clubface 2. The sp. gr.ρf of the clubface 2 and the sp. gr.ρh of the head body 1 are preferably so set as to be fitted by the relationρh <=ρf×0.7.
