PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum pump in a small axial size and in a very simple structure. SOLUTION: A vacuum pump 11 includes a mainbody 1 and a rotor member 9 having a plurality of rotor discs 12 connected to a plurality of stator rings integrally formed with the mainbody 1. The rotor member has a bell-shaped shaft cavity 13. In the bell-shaped shaft cavity 13, a rotating shaft 15 and electric motors 7, 6 are arranged. The rotating shaft 15 is supported by rotation supporting means 5a, 5b. The electric motor includes a stator 7 integrally formed with the mainbody 1 of the vacuum pump 11 and a rotor 8 connected to the inner face of the bell-shaped shaft cavity 13 in the rotor member 9.
