PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject DNA sequence having a specific formula, capable of quickly and correctly diagnosing Pythium vanterpoolii as the major injurious bacterium against lawn grass found in specimens such as of lawn grass an soil, and useful for lawn maintenance or the like. SOLUTION: This DNA sequence is shown by formula I, consisting a pair of primers, 1st primer and 2nd primer, intended for detecting the polynucleotide in Pythium vanterpoolii; wherein the 1st primer lies on the upstream side of the 2nd primer in the DNA sequence in Pythium vanterpoolii or the sequence complementary thereto, while the 2nd primer is a sequence complementary to the above DNA sequence or the sequence complementary thereto; each of the pair of primers is afforded from a sequential portion having a GC content of 45-60%, the melting temperature difference between the 1st and 2nd primers is 2-6 deg.C, and one party of the pair of primers has a sequence of formula II while the other has a sequence of formula III. |
