The yarn (e.g. natural, synthetic) is knitted onto a substrate (e.g. paper, nylon sheer) pref. in the form of parallel rows of chain stitches. The yarn is then texturized or dyed, after which the knit is undone and the yarn formed into a package. The equipment can be used for space-dyeing or producing a novel crimp.
