Hydrocarbon feedstocks contg. >=10 wt.% aromatics are hydrogenated in the presence of a presulphided catalyst consisting mainly of Ni, W, F and Al2O3, with a Ni=W atomic ratio of 2.5-3.8:1, an Ni content of 10-30 (pref. 15-25) wt.% an F content of 0.25-5.0 wt.%, and an S:Ni atomic ratio of 0.7-1.5:1. Hydrogenation is pref. effected at 260-427 degrees C with an H2 partial pressure of 14.1-282 kg/cm2, a gas circulation rate (60-100% H2) of 12.46-267 Nm3/hl, and an LHSV of 0.25-10 w/w/hr. The process can be used to convert kerosene and aromatics-rich cycle oils into catalytic cracking stocks for the prodn. of gasoline blending components. Inclusion of F in the catalyst increases the degree of aromatics satn. per pass from ca. 30% to >=40%, giving a 2-3% increase in the prodn. of gasoline blending components during subsequent catalytic cracking.
|
