PURPOSE:To extract only a desired organic area by using the information on a picture element to be extracted and its peripheral picture elements. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 10 controls a system via a main memory 11, and a high-speed arithmetic circuit 13 performs an exclusive process for a 3-dimensional image via a memory 15 for extraction of the internal organs. The 3-dimensional images, the X-ray CT images, and other various images stored in a display memory 14 are displayed on a CRT 16. In this case, four picture elements adjacent to each other at the periphery of a picture element Px,y contained in an image 1 is selected. Then it is checked whether the extracting conditions of the element Px,y are satisfied or not against those four picture elements. If so, the computing operations including the four picture elements are carried out. Then the element Px,y is extracted as an organic picture element when the computing result satisfies the extracting conditions. |
