<p>Bonds between particles consist of pure or complex refractory metal oxide, and product permeability is 0.01 c.g.s. unit. Preferably, bond is pure Al2O3. Process: mould is filled with mixture of powdered refractory containing uniform dispersion of 0.5-10 wt.% finely divided metal oxide(s); mixture is pressed, with pressure enough to cause flowing of metal oxide to obtain coherent product, which is removed from mould and baked in O2-containing atmosphere at >=1200 degrees C. Advantage: pore dimension reduced to minimum, limiting penetration of foreign substances, and presence of mullite is minimized.</p> |
