Device has a tube (22) to sample a gas flowing within a conduit, via an opening (13) in the conduit wall (11). One or more holes (46) in the end of the tube are used to suck in a sample of gas, which is led off to a gas analyzer (54) via gas treatment stages (48,52). Also mounted adjacent to the tube (22) is a sensor (28) for measuring the flow rate within the conduit (12). The sensor (28) is connected to a flow rate determination unit (36).
