In the drive transmission system for a ship, a support (6) is directly or indirectly between the ship's motor and the foundation (5) of the ship. The support has a high stiffness in the support direction, and gives an elastic distortion across the support direction. The support is composed of leaf springs (6), with their side surfaces (16) aligned in the support direction, or it is a single spring with a bending plane in the support direction. The support (6) is of spring steel, or a plastics reinforced with glass or carbon fibers.
