A nickel-hydrogen secondary cell in which an assembly of electrodes having a structure formed by alternately stacking or winding, through a separator, a positive plate comprising a current collecting sheet and a positive plate mix mainly containing a nickel compound and carried on the current collecting sheet and a negative plate comprising a hydrogen storage alloy as a main component, a current collecting sheet and a negative plate mix containing a binder and a conductive material and carried on the current collecting sheet is housed in a cell can together with an electrolyte, and an opening of the cell can is sealed with a sealing plate having positive plate terminal, and the binder contains at least carboxy-modified styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, the conductive material contains metallic flakes or metallic short fibers, and an edge of the negative plate current collecting sheet is electrically connected to the cell can through a current collecting plate welded to the edge.
