DETECTION OF NEURAL ACTIVITY

The present invention relates to an in situ insect brain tissue assay, particularly suited for Dipteran brain tissue and to uses of such an assay. The assay centres on the observation by the present inventors that calcium levels in the brain of Drosophila appear to oscillate when detected using a system employing transgenic apoaequorin to measure intracellular levels of calcium in the brain tissue.
