摘要 1,266,116. Preventing unauthorized operation of vehicles. TOKAI RIKA DENKI SEISAKUSHO K.K. 7 Dec., 1970 [6 Dec., 1969], No. 58035/70. Heading B7J. [Also in Division E2] A theft prevention device by means of which the electric circuit of a motor vehicle is settable, comprises a rotor 5 of a lock mechanism of the cylinder type, rotatable to various positions including lock and drive positions, a locking bolt 13 protrusible only by the rotation of the rotor to the lock position so as to block a vital lockable part of the vehicle such as a steering shaft a, brake or transmission, and a latch 27 which is normally biased by a spring 30 to an actuated position to prevent the rotor, which has been rotated from a lock position to other positions, being rotated back to the lock position and when operated to the disabling position allowing the rotor to be rotated to the lock position, the latch being automatically returnable by the action of the spring to the actuated position when the rotor has been returned to the lock position. As shown, the rotor 5, which is rotated by a key 10 to lock, accessory, drive and start positions, is connected by an extension 18 thereof to a control member 19 connected to an electrical switch 23, the member having a partcylindrical cam portion 21 engageable with a surface 16 of a slot 15 formed in the bolt 13 which is slidable in grooves in the housing 1 and which is urged by a spring 17 towards the steering shaft a upon rotation of the rotor. The latch 27 is movable in the axial direction thereof by the spring 30 and is depressible in a transverse direction by a spring 31 so that the end 29 of the latch is always engaged in one of the recesses 24, 25 or 26 of the cylindrical part 20 of the member 19. The recess 24 has end walls 24a and 24b which, when the rotor is in the lock position, respectively correspond substantially to the accessory and drive positions, and extends to the lock position by the shallower recess 25. A guide recess 26 extends to the lock position at which position the recess is equal in depth to the recess 25. In operation, with the rotor 5 rotated to the drive position, the end 29 of the latch 27 engages in the groove 24 so that accidental locking of the shaft a is prevented by abutment of the latch with the wall 24a. When the rotor is to be rotated back to an engine stopping position, the latch 27 is pushed forward against the force of the spring 30 when the end 29 becomes engaged in the recess 26 by the action of spring 31, this then allowing the rotor to be rotated to the lock position and the end 29 to be engaged in the recess 25; the rotor is then free again to be rotated to the " on " and " start " positions.
