摘要 According to the invention, a light pulse (L) is injected during the recovery time of a thyristor in order to generate free charge carriers in a provided region such that the thyristor is fired during an irregular voltage surge without destruction caused by the occurrence of high current intensities in the current filaments. This can be carried out in a device for optically controlling a (light pulse fired) thyristor or in a structure which is suited as a method for operating a (light pulse fired) thyristor. In the case of a light pulse fired thyristor, the power of the light pulse is selected such that it is lower than the power necessary for the firing process of the thyristor.
