The present invention provides a method for adjusting the height of a work surface for use by an operator in a food or medical industry characterised by the steps of the operator activating a height adjustable mechanism, wherein the height adjustable mechanism upon activation moves the work surface by at least one automated telescopic column to a height deemed by the operator to be optimal for working on the work surface.
