A recycling control system for a dock leveler (10) including a pivotally mounted deck (32), a powered lifting mechanism (40) for raising the deck (32 ), and a lip (34) pivotally mounted to the deck (32) for movement between penda nt and extended positions, in which the control assembly includes a lip-positio n member (50) couplable to the lip (34) for movement therewith such that the position of the lip-position member (50) is indicative of lip position, a switch (60) couplable to the lifting means (40) and operable to a first condition wherein power is provided to the lifting means (40), and operable to a second condition wherein power is not provided to the lifting means (40), and an actuator (52) disposed on the lip-position member (50) for movement relative thereto between at least a first position where the actuator operat es the switch (60) to the first condition, and a second position where the swit ch (60) can be operated to the second condition, the actuator (52) being dispos ed to move between the first and second positions as the lip (34) moves toward the pendant position.
