Lightweight frame for sporting rifles, competition rifles, or military arms

The lightweight frame for a rifle is made of carbon fiber laminate either laminated over a skeleton frame or laid into mold halves and bonded together. The single piece frame includes the barrel support and the stock and has shaped recesses(3) into which can be fitted balance masses(4) to adjust the balance of the weapon to suit the user. The ballast masses are secured by screw fasteners(5) into threaded sleeves bonded into the laminate. Wood trim (12) is secured(13) to selected sites e.g. for hand grips and the different parts of the weapon are located in other recesses. The weapon can be designed for either left or right handed operation, or for both.
