The saw (6), such as circular or bend saw, has a cutting plane (12) movably mounted in relation to the workpiece (2) to be cut up. The saw has a clamp (9) for an elongated workpiece which is cut up into pre-set lengths by the forward thrust of the saw across the lengthwise direction of the workpiece. The clamp has clamping jaws (23-28) divided up along the cutting plane of the saw for clamping the workpiece part into sawn sections (2a).
