<p>A system for time synchronization of a remote meter (30) to a communication server (70) via a wireless communication network. As the communication server (70) initiates a request to the meter (30), the time of the request is stored at the communication server (70). At the remote side, the request is received by a communication module (10) that is connected to the meter (30). The communication module (10) retrieves the meter's current time from a clock within the meter (30) and transmits the meter time to the server in a response message. When the response is received by the communication server (70), the time is stored by the communication server (70). A comparison is made between request time, response time and meter time to determine if the meter time is out of synchronization with respect to the server time and if the meter time should be corrected in a subsequent communication to the meter.</p> |
