The present invention relates to double prodrugs of pharmacologically active glycoprotein IIb/IIIa antagonists of formula (I), wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl of about 2 to about 8 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl, and aralkyl; R is selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, formula (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), (j), wherein R<50> is H or alkyl; and formula (k), wherein R<50> is H or alkyl; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
