The invention concerns a system based on the use of modular containers (42) wherein are placed purchased articles and used for transporting them from the supermarket department to the buyer's residence. The modular containers (42) can first be placed on standard trolleys and manually unloaded on the pay desk (40) conveyor belt (44), or the trolleys can be replaced with mobile chassis (43) designed for the use of the modular containers (42) with which other automatic unloading (41) and re-loading devices can be subsequently combined at the pay desks (40); the system can be combined with a turntable transporting containers from the supermarket departments, the purchased articles being recorded in masked time, the modular containers being stored while payment is being made and the mobile chassis (43) being automatically loaded.
