The appts., to use a lavatory basin as a bidet, has a water feed connection from the lavatory flushing system or a wash basin to a jet with a water valve, which is aligned at the anal region of the user. The water jet is aligned inwards from the front of the lavatory basin, and can be swung clear to one side. The alignment of the water jet can be adjusted, as can the strength of the water jet pressure.
