The invention provides a method and configuration in order to effect an interruption-free power supply operation of a system unit (HDD) in a computer system with a plurality of station computers (Sa; Sb), said computers commonly sharing the system unit (HDD), without being limited to a local location. According to the invention, each of the respective station computers (Sa; Sb) is operated with appropriate interruption-free power supplies (USVa; USVb). In order to supply power to the common shared system unit (HDD), said common shared system unit (HDD) is connected to an active interruption-free power supply (e.g. USVb) via an automatically reversing commutator (PCS) which monitors the voltage at the inputs thereof. |
